Silent observers

article image placeholderQuiet People in Meetings Are Incredible
So I was part of an advanced meditation program last weekend, and one of the key takeaways was the beauty of retreating into silence. All of us participants were asked to be silent for three days and just observe our thoughts we urge to express. And we noticed that by the third day we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in silence. And then early this week, I noticed this very interesting piece on why quiet people in meetings are incredible

First of all, I'm so glad to hear that you've had that long weekend of silence and meditation. That sounds like the perfect weekend to me. So it was really lovely hearing about that. It made me crave a weekend away from devices and conversation as much as I love it

Thank you 🙏🏼

I mean, it must be a form of meditation, but what does it lead to is something that I really want to know because I would try it myself, but I would love to know what was your experience like and how much of it. You know, all of this is actually kind of applicable in your real life, and it just makes it a little more productive or more considerate or in a way, I can't find the right word for it

So I do reach out into the spiritual realm from time to time, and I find great sort of relief in that. And I also feel that it helps me calm down. It helps me focus better. And surprisingly, even with things in the corporate world, sort of understanding, moving back again, stepping back, getting the macro picture and not getting carried away with expectations of certain kind, like you rightly said, in certain cultures, being silent is not considered a positive sort of a quality

But given the covert situation here in India, things have gone online, so they largely depend on you to follow these sort of advisories and stick to them. And so I stayed away from my device and you will not believe it. It was such a good break to be away from the device and not get to be able to actually follow a thought process to the end without getting interrupted, to understand that you could actually take a pause and reflect and contemplate before you communicate
