Tweenaged Dirtbag Baby!

The bottom line is that being a parent is a life sentence. They're never ever going to not be your kid. The responsibility level, Wayne, as they get older and more independent, are able to do things for themselves, but your involvement is always there in different aspects of their life. So right now I'm in the Tween age stage and I didn't even know that there was such a thing

And then I called him back into my room, and I was like, I want to apologize to you because I should not have cursed at you, and I should not have reacted that way just because you lacked compassion and the ability to read a room in that moment. And I said, you know what? This is what mom is going to do this evening, because I need this time. I need this time so that I can be a better mother. It's tomorrow

And so it gave me a different appreciation because I used to think, oh, well, I can negate people who have multiple kids because they've been there, so they should have it perfected. But no, it makes sense. So I'm the parent of one child, and I have to have grace and patience with myself and practice grace and patience with him. And I'm sharing the dark side of this just so that others listening as well can understand

My daughter is also an only child, which I also think only further complicates the dynamic because it's just the two of us all the time. She doesn't have a sibling who she can lean into that's in the house. I had brothers I was the oldest, but we could kind of vent. We still do to this day, vent about our parents. And there's a relationship and a bond that forms among siblings in the dynamic in the household, too
