Your job, is it meaningful, or burdensome?

Now, let's talk about that word calling. Work, we all understand and probably agree, is an end in itself. It's one of the most important parts of our life, right? But if you think about our work as a calling, we don't do it for the rewards or even the advancement. Guys, seriously. But what do we do it for? Contribution? Maybe makes the world a better place

For me, I feel like what I do for my job, I guess, is pretty meaningful because it involves, like, creating a safe space for people to come together and feel comfortable, comfortable enough to speak about whatever's on their mind. So I feel like it's pretty meaningful to me because I've had points in life where I could have used something like that. So I it feels nice to be able to try and provide that for others

I started a career as a freelance person and it gave me an incredible sense of variety and underpinning of total tension and stress. By the way, don't get me wrong, when you are somebody who has to create your own professional trajectory every 5 seconds by getting a gig as they call it, it's stress. But you become used to that stress. I did what people do in the opposite direction. Some people work for 1520 years and then they start consulting and freelancing. I did the opposite

So I work front desk at a hotel on an island in Florida. But it is not my calling. I love photography and travel. I just started my own business, which has been super difficult. But okay. It does make me happy and it is more of what I'm looking for. When you say are you in a career or are you in a job? Because my hotel job to me is just a job, but my business isn't what I want to be my career

🤔

A fine. People who ask these sorts of questions are humble, bragging about their job. As you say, it's purposeful. But what is the purpose? To life or to work? And a capitalist structure that we live in here, in America, to work is basically to suffer. That you find purpose within your suffering is interesting to me. But my job is just a job. My purpose is beyond what any occupation could pay me

I can promise you that I'm just vindicated and liberated because for once in my life I do not have a solid plan for part two. I just know that I'm uninhibited by the fear of not having a plan. And I was wanting to find out in different ways other people's perspectives, if you will, about are they meaningful? Do they have a meaningful job or is it burdensome?

It's on my Swell cat channel if you want to check it out and hear it and maybe even reply because we got into sort of a micro macro discussion on boundaries and the importance of boundaries when does a talent become a job? And it's sort of touched on a couple of different things and it's sort of in the same neighborhood. I wouldn't say the same address, but definitely the same neighborhood is your question. But I do appreciate this post, man. It's awesome

It is not a career I would have chosen. My five year old self would be delighted with what I know. Not with what I do, but with where I am. When my oldest child, who is 21 now, when he was about seven, he said to me, dad, you work at a really cool place, but I don't think I'd want your job. And I said, I never wanted my job here, but I would have loved to work here

Tim, my brother. Man, what an awesome reply. I truly appreciate kind words and allow me to return the favor and say thank you for nearly 30 years of service, sacrifice, and education. Man wow. My hackers off to you. I'm very impressed. I totally loved hearing your feedback. Completely humble, transparent, very honest and pure, and I love every bit of it. I think that I was a lucky one

That servant mentality service before self mentality and obviously service to higher being to help with the masses around you, man, I applaud you and I know for a fact that can be definitely taxing but awesome and fulfilling in every endeavor as well. So I just want to extend my gratitude to you and thank you for what you do and how you do it, man. Pray for you to remain strong and steadfast. Obviously saying his will look forward to hearing from you again

It's adrenaline. Lots of adrenaline. It's the capability to maintain calm during chaos and organize things during chaos. And it's just fulfilling. Protecting people is one of the most fulfilling things I've done. I'm also a medic, like, on the side, tactical medic. I love that aspect of it. But that's not what I'm here for this time. Of course, if there was any type of mass couch, I would be in it as needed

So anyway, I just want to say I appreciate your comments and I also appreciate your enthusiasm and the fact that you love your job and it's meaningful and it's purpose driven and you're just happy because when you're happy, everybody else is happy and people want to be a part of the product you're producing, and that's even better

And I think that may be the best sort of security. If we had the security that the President has, it could be quite frustrating. Not much freedom, right? Got security. Twenty four, seven. You got guns all around you. So I think, for most people, I think I provide the best form of psychological security. And what I don't find meaningful for it about my job, is that there's not much growth. It is a struggle

And it makes me feel very pleased to know that we have a lot of voices out there who can talk and agree or maybe disagree and at the end of the day, come back to the table of neutrality and reciprocity and keep pushing forward. Once again, let me know how you think about things. If you have something awesome, bring it up and let's get on it. Let's go on the good foot and do the bad thing. All right?

And I know by any shadow of a doubt, beyond any shadow of a doubt, whatever directive, if I need them to move or get on the ground or go in our panic room, whatever the case is, I know that when I switch on during a situation, they're going to listen. Because you build that trust and you do that through being a personable person, not just some robot wearing body armor, driving enough armor with your weapon, acting all tactical. It's not about that

My job is meaningful because I work with children from six weeks to three years, and I'm making an impact on their life, not just their lives, but the lives of their families as well, and their siblings. Also, I'm making an impact on the parents because it's if you don't get a manual on how to be a parent. So I'm teaching them how to do things with their children to better them for the next level

Thanks for the topic. It's a great topic. Well, right now I find the work that I do meaningful. Right now I care for elderly veterans who are able to do certain things for themselves due to health issues. So I help them in any way and their family in any way that I can. I like that work

He says the work that we do meaningful. But I work with children between the ages of six months and three years. So I think my work is very meaningful because I'm making the difference in the life of a child. And not only the child, but the family as well. I'm making a difference in the family's life. I'm helping them, I could say, take a village to raise their children. So, yes, the work that I do is very meaningful
