Food sustainability

article image placeholderUploaded by @WANS
I think there's too much emphasis on making food sustainability the responsibility of the individual consumer. And I think while that it is important for consumers to be conscious of where their food comes from, I think at the end of the day, the entities that are most responsible for making sure that their food comes from a sustainable source is big companies and the government, because the government and large companies are the ones that make the rules and regulations

Advance. It's a lovely swell you posted and I want to share with you this article that I just happened to read a few weeks ago about how they are employing ecological engineering to save the coastal rates of Buffalo, Bangladesh. I mean to save the coastal shores of Bangladesh using oyster reefs. It's a lovely read and it goes to talk about how it has a help the coastline against climate change effects and B help the marine life and help fishermen. So it's a fantastic read

And you can sort of go get your own little aquaponics farming tool, a little tub that allows fishes to fish and eat and thrive, and then their waste becomes the fertilizer for your garden and in your swell. You just really mentioned the bigger players getting on board. And if you just do a Google, it's amazing the revolutions that's happening. The ideas are being planted, but you have to have cross the board adoption

And they're really good for marine conservation and helping combat climate change because oyster reefs not only do oysters filter water, but they also create landscapes and structures that prevent swell and storm from damaging the land. So it's really interesting. I can't wait to read this article because it's actually right up my alley because, as I said, my dream career is to go into oyster Reef restoration. So thank you so much. I'm so excited to read this

And it's funny because if you think about the word permaculture, it has permanent, which also has permitted, which also the first four letters of the word permanent. And so yeah, I like, wow, this is such a cool topic. I cannot wait to research this and see if it's accessible to consumers, like something that you might be able to start in your own home, in your backyard, maybe even. But yeah, thank you so much

And I can tell you, it's very accessible to everyday people. But it's a bit of an investment at this time, as it is in its fancy. But there's a lot of promise

That's really, really interesting that you have a family member who has invested time and money into that. I WANs going to ask you if they have like a Facebook or if they possibly have like a website or blog about the whole process. I'd love to research experience if they have shared it on the Internet at all

Maui pono network = grassroots PAC

Now it's up to everybody at the local level to think about how do we create a political action committee in our local spaces that's focused on creating these food policies, regenerative farming, regenerative urban farming policies, seas, regenerative landscaping, creating more trees so we can have more moisture in the air and don't have to worry about so much about a drought. We can make it rain with more trees. So anyways, just throwing it all out there, it's

Hey, Indie, thank you for this. And you saw it firsthand. And you're right, political action committees are so much more effective because they sometimes even bypass a broken system of policies that don't get off the ground. Because what you're experience in Maui, it looks like it supports the candidates you want, but it also engages people to do things while elections are happening over there. You can be over here doing stuff and making change
