The only option would have been to drop the bike and run and maybe get trampled by the elephant in two steps or jump into kennel, which had fast current. That would take you straight to a deep dam. Like if we know encounters happened. That was one h*** of thrilling ride for me. This was an offering trial of about 12 km, no patch of roads anywhere to do this trial, you should be okay to sacrifice your bike test
