Tao Te Ching 32 - Where to Stop

article image placeholderUploaded by @ValuableActs
There's a point of ownership at which one should stop. There's a just and proper way to treat a living creature that extends further to ownership of the self as well the value that's inherent in having responsibility and control over oneself. And what this chapter says is when the Tao expresses itself in creation, it becomes visible. The things that are in this world are beautiful and indescribable. When you compare lived experience to what we're able to communicate

I'm glad you're having that discussion here because it's important for people to realize that although it feels so great to own things, it's best to not get caught up in the idea of ownership, because it is kind of a facade

Ttc 32 - response

Prior to capitalism, it was capitalism that brought into practice the idea of private property and in law in principle. Previously, all property belonged to the head of the tribe. The king was held only with his permission, which could be revoked at any time by his pleasure. The kind of ownership that's silly is the kind that's inconsistent with the human reality of how we live and what we value
