What is Unschooling..

article image placeholderUploaded by @UnschoolingCrew
You learn by living. And it has been an amazing growth on our side to be able to get to this point and to be able to help other families to empower that journey of self discovery, of rediscovering who they are as people and who they are as parents and who they are as a family when they have children. So a journey like that, like this one, it often starts with just a small aspect, right?

A road less traveled and unconventional but ohhh so worth it! #unschooling #parenting #familylife #relationships #partnership #peacefulparenting

And is there a body that addresses parents regularly saying how's homeschooling going? Are they ready to take standardized tests? Are they ready for college? How do they measure your efficacy as homeschooling parents? I know there's huge networks and there's curriculum and there's groups and there's group learning. Are you involved with any of those networks? And are you finding this? It sounds like it's liberating to you and it's affecting you as a parent and as an individual

And that's basically how we live our life. That's the cornerstone of being an unschooling family. We are all equal, we all have rights, we all have needs and we definitely work very hard to make sure those needs are met. That includes the parents, that includes the children

I think one of the things that strikes me as so compelling about the, the Unschooling method is to build critical thinking in in cross, cross curricula kind of environments. And what I mean by that is when you put music into math and when you put sort of life skills into literature, like, let's say you read a book and you see that there's a meal being served that's very specific to the plot

The other thing that a lot of people do, and I found it very helpful at the beginning, too, is called a continent of learning. I learned that from the book. From Julie Bohr's book the Brave Learner. And that book kind of talks about the different modalities of homeschooling, how you can do it very different, but it's very child center, self directed education approach. That's how I learned about Unschooling before I before I knew anything about it
