The Donkey is My New Spirit Animal and Why I Won’t Pay for Manual Labor

"…There's a whole lot more to say about that because I live in a tiny house community where people tend to have higher paying professions, ironically, but choose to live tiny so they can pay for these kind of repairs. I am sorry if this rent really just doesn't have a point, but I'm just sharing a perspective from a disabled person who is alone and doesn't really have the money.…"

"…From one disabled person to another. I am waving at you from thousands of miles away. So much of what you described oh, my goodness. Yes. The difficulties of trying to get things done with limited income, with limited physical ability, and with pain. And it's not easy at all. And I guess some might describe it as isolated. I enjoy my hermitude, but, yeah, my family is in the US while I'm in Canada. And thank goodness for social audio. Right.…"

"…And I always looked at it and I love the frame and I was like, I can do something so much more interesting than that with it. So I actually took it and I took spackle that I have in the house and I spackled over the script and then I just started rubbing like black pastel all over it. And I've been working with pastels and I've been just loving working with my fingers. Anything that I can, like, I like to do, like ink and markers.…"

"…But anyway, I recently bought oil pastels now as an adult, but I haven't done anything with them yet because I'm like, well, what do I want to do with them at the time? Yeah, that's another topic. But anyway, I loved it. I'm not working on anything at the moment. I think that's where I'm missing that creative.…"

"…So I would say perhaps schedule a time at least once this week on your schedule and make yourself sit down with either the alcohol inks or the oil pastels. Do the oil pastels because you've never done it before or recently since your teen years and go for it and see what that new experience is like. Looking at that white piece of paper is always so intimidating to me. So you know what I did? I got a black sketchbook and it's all black paper.…"

"…Because sometimes when I have felt daunted by the paper or the empty paper just slapping something onto it, the process of it is somehow satisfying. And then it's like it breaks that barrier, and then I can go into a space of doing something else that's not merely, I guess, breaking the wall or I don't know, but I think sometimes I just need to break through before I can be in that moment in that space.…"

"…Oh, my goodness. I just remembered that you had asked me my name and I didn't respond. So sorry. Oh, my goodness. I'm just thinking I caught myself apologizing there. Anyway, I don't remember if it was in this conversation, the other one, but I just thought I'd answer you here. Yes. Christina. And it's nice to meet you, Jamie.…"

"…It's nice to meet you, too. And I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond. It's just been crazy getting the house ready for sale and stuff with my job job. Stuff with my job job. You know how it is. But, yeah, I changed my name on here because I guess I'm going to get into some workplace things. So I'm going to go as Jazzie. That's my jazz singer name.…"
