Halloween and Fate

And no matter how many times he keeps coming back, because you cannot outrun, you cannot hide, and you cannot kill fate. The Halloween movies is really this crazy story about fate. Now, you may agree with the philosophy, you may disagree with the philosophy, you may have a completely different philosophy concept when it comes to the idea of fate, but that's what the movies are exploring

What the Halloween movies are really about

Every October I watch all the Scream movies and I swear to God, it makes it feel like the year is going by in a flash. Because I watch these movies and I'm like, didn't I just watch these? And it's like, no, you watched them last October. Which is just insane. So what would you recommend I watch this year? Maybe I'll give the screen once a break, or maybe not. Maybe I'll dive right in and maybe just add some more

@ZLisbon Great Observation!

I don't know if I spend much time analyzing them. But I would love to get your take. But thank you so much for at least breaking the silence and adding to this. And maybe we can create something from the last week of September and October that would be fun for everyone on Swell to dive in, watch some movies, talk about them, and, well, hopefully get scared absolutely to death

It's probably my favorite film of his, one of my favorite films of all time. And I do feel like fate is sort of ever present in that as well. Oftentimes in horror films, the films have to end negatively. Not always, but most of the time. And so it's kind of hard to shake that feeling that fate isn't a part of the narrative. Because in so many of these films, the hero or the protagonist can do pretty much anything to avoid their fate

@Taylor Great points!

And well, I greatly appreciate your insight and I do think it's interesting that in some ways, and you can tell me whether you agree or disagree, the last Halloween movies, the one that was released last year, and now this year we're going to get the I guess the final one. I think Michael Myers almost in that last one, almost transcended like just a killer onto almost some kind of supernatural force. It almost transcended anything that we had seen before

And then in terms of new movie posts that I do, I'm actually going to do one today about a film I just watched, a horror film actually called Barbarian. I'm sure you've probably heard about it because it's making the rounds online right now as being one of the new great entries into the genre. So once I post that, let me know if you've seen it and what you think
