Should we smile more?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
Any of you heard this phrase before? You need to smile more. Where does that come from? Why do we need to smile more? Is it for our benefit or for others benefit? Smiling, I heard, in some cases produces endorphins and certain chemicals in the brain that makes you feel better. But also smiling causes rapid aging, smile wrinkles. And whatnot could one go through life never smiling? And therefore they have a more youthful look that's probably you reaching, right?

Who’s benefit comes from us smiling?

So yeah, I don't think we smell a lot for ourselves. I don't think we smell a lot for ourselves. I think we smell for others. Others to make other people feel comfortable around us

@OmegaStrange 😃

So DeMarcus. Thank you, as always, for not only taking the time to listen to the swell, but also offer an audio response. And thanks for the perspective from a cultural standpoint on how some people see Americans in regards to the smiling, it's so much that one can learn from a smile, right? This is a famous saying I bring up a lot or concept, but it wasn't really until we had digital technology and photographs that we started to sort of smile more

Such an interesting question. I think both you and Demarkis made some really, like, interesting points. And I enjoyed, or I should say I appreciated hearing both of your perspectives on smiling more and whether you do it for others or you do it for yourself. Personally, I've had my experiences, honestly, where I internalized that hole. You should smile more because you look prettier. That's something that I internalized when I was younger. So I did smile a lot more

@Musing_Matilda 😃

And as far as the lady being more pretty when she smiles, isn't that interesting? But for the guy to be seen as hot sometimes he's not smiling all that often. This is a topic I broach every eight months. But it's something that I do feel the general public has strong confidence in assuming they know what it is, when it can be proven to be otherwise. But with all that guess, I can only say, hopefully this has made you smile. Thank you for responding

To me, it always seems natural and it seems like she's happy genuinely, and that's where her smile comes from. And as a result, she's exquisitely beautiful, doesn't look a day over 70. At 92, she's energetic and alive more than even I am. And I can't help but feel like that has to do with her smiling. And I assumed her genuine happiness

@ZLisbon good responses!

Zara, thank you so much for not only listening to the Swell, but also offering an audio response. And yes, I I had I must admit, this is one of my favorite subjects to talk about. Talk about. I talk about this annually because for one, it never gets old, and two, it relates so much to the human experience and that being smiling equating to happiness and how the act of the endorphins right, doesn't come merely just from smiling
