Journey to Self-Compassion

article image placeholderUploaded by @All2beholdyou
Just in my family system, I can already see that there was this need to be performance based, the need to people please. And oftentimes at the journey of really forgiving my parents, oftentimes they're just reeling what's happened in their own family systems that maybe wasn't the best nurturing practices to their child's emotional health. So I bring this topic up because it really impacts everything, I think, in the way that you go about even what might be a very positive action for yourself

And it's just beautiful, even in this app, to hear people talk about it, because is it reminds us that it's a conversation to be had and to be gently sort of supported by each other is really important. So I support you. I hear you. And thank you for bringing it up today

And I always thought that was a great visual and metaphor to just engage on this platform. So I appreciate that a lot, too, as well. The class I actually finished was on family systems, and it just kind of opened up my guts to so many things. But it's so vital knowing how much our family systems, our places of origin, really shape and form our world views. So looking forward to more conversations. Deborah, keep up the good work

This is such a big conversation, I think for our culture coming from maybe the immigrant stories that we have that have passed down from generations. This idea of competency and providing for our family and extended family in some ways, in some cultural narrative, it's like there's no room for self compassion. I think that's something that I personally just have had to work through in my own life. And how do I understand this in my own version?

Hi again, Diana. Thank you for another great conversation. I have really liked the back and forth about kind of the learned the model old self journey to selfcompassion and going thinking back to our childhood and how we learned what it looks like to be to really care for yourself. And I know that it's such a buzzword for sure. But yeah, I think it's important to actually go back and think about how did we learn it and did we learn it

And I'll play a song called Compassion for Self. And it's a song that plays for the broken parts of ourselves that we feel. And that seems to help. But it's a fascinating topic because I think no matter who you speak to, everyone has some type of memory or something that has happened through them that they are not proud of and or experiences that have really torn them apart
