Your Top 5: Nick Terry

article image placeholderUploaded by @AdamPaul
Nick began his entertainment career working at Buena Vista Pictures Marketing, the theatrical marketing arm of the Walt Disney Company, and then earned paper cuts in the mailroom at Paradigm Talent and Literary Agency and then as an assistant in both the talent and literary departments. After Paradigm, he movies into talent management, learning the trade from veteran manager Jerry Scott and mentored by the late Bernie Brylstein. As you can tell, there's a long list here of legendary names that are a part of Nick's education

I really just make it a blanket statement because it is my job to be a bullshit detector, to put some truth to something, to open doors, to introduce people, to throw ideas out to a client, to tell a client maybe not the best idea, or there's four of those scripts floating around or whatever you read in Hollywood Reporter or Deadline or Variety today happened three months ago. It just now is making the news. It's really a partner. It's really a partner

Nick, I love that you wrapped up with Bernie Brylstein. Because I want to know a little bit more about your relationship with him. And maybe tell us about him. Legendary manager in Hollywood. Perhaps one of the first, if not the first. And management versus agenting is, like you said, a much different relationship. Can you talk about those nuances a little more? And maybe starting from Brylstein point. Love talking to you as always. Thank you. I can't wait to hear

So with respect to agents who have more responsibilities than just procuring employment, they're part of a team. Some agents don't like managers and vice versa. Bernie came from the agent in world, but was a manager longer than he ever was an agent. I think more agents become managers than managers become agents

I'm doing a lot of work in the podcast world, and I can smell already. It's been going on a while now, but there's a fever pitch around podcasts and from all sorts of angles, particularly the true crime angle and the fiction podcast angle, this sort of piloting angle. I'm interested in your thoughts on that, Mr. Chauvin
