Afraid of the LIGHT?…

article image placeholderUploaded by @lwatsonjr
Hey, swell cast. This is Rev. LJ. I want to thank you so much for tuning in on this glorious Tuesday. I ran across a quote today from Plato, and the quote says, and I'm paraphrasing, that we quickly forgive children for being afraid of the dark. We make room for them. And what a shame it is that so many adults are afraid of the light

Heliophobia (n.) - irrational fear of intense light/exposures. We all have DARK spaces, but how do we cope with fear of LIGHT?

So yeah, we are heavily meditating almost on a daily basis on how do we ground ourselves in this humility of as much as we may know and as much as we may write and say and draw and create that things happen to us and we feel ashamed and we feel like these things are not presentable to the public or to loved ones. We feel like we've let down some figures and this is all happening in our minds

Hey, I want to pick up on the non binary comment you just made. Aaron, I think you're absolutely right. And when you mention social media, I just want to say the irony there is that there is an incredible amount of reckless disclosure where people are taking huge leaps and showing themselves in all their multiple dimensions, but the culture doesn't hold it. So what you have is this radical honesty and then you have backlash

@DBPardes "Thank you for the deep thoughts." 💭🙏🏽❤️💯

Is it possible that we could eventually hold a societal space that allows humans and possibly all living things to have the right, the freedom to express and speak and share and be seen without harmful backlash or ridicule, but just be accepted in whatever position you offer? So I don't know. You really got us thinking deeply. So thank you

Am I safe enough to tell you about them and all those other circumstances? Someone who's differently able in our society has incredible challenges because people don't think ahead, they're not thoughtful, and sometimes they even get scared of differently abled people. But in times of crisis, differently abled people are the first ones to be helped because it's acknowledged that they need help and there's this sense of, like, acceptance and then let's show up for them anyway

Interesting 🧐 @lwatsonjr

So I think exposing our dark parts is harder. And then also I feel like we live in a world where it's not really acceptable. Like you're asking a really good question and it's thought provoking, but as I'm working it out, as I'm answering it, it's really not acceptable to sit around and talk about your dark parts and bring it into the light. You do have those trusted people, but even people are people, right?
