11 convicts in Bilkis Bano case walk out of jail - A travesty of justice?

article image placeholderHow Can Justice for Any Woman End Like This, Asks Bilkis Bano as Rapists, Killers Walk Free
So what are your thoughts on remission? I would really like to know. While I agree it is within the legal rights of a prisoner, I feel it may give a wrong message that even serious crimes can be washed off by merely serving a jail sentence while the victim is traumatized for life and is unable to move on. What are your thoughts on this release of the bill kiss barNEW case? Convicts do let me know

It's appalling. And I'm under shock after hearing this news and after fighting this case. You know, Milk has had a sort of nomadic life throughout the time that she was fighting this case, and her family has been under threat constantly. And what does this mean now when these people go scot free? Doesn't this challenge her safety? How is the government going to ensure that she stays safe? And how are we upholding her dignity? Why are we not walking the talk here?

And the law has been upheld because Indian law is not exemplary. There are different ways law is designed. So when Indian law, these all penal codes, CrPC criminal procedures, IPC was made by the British. So all these sections, they were designed with not exemplary way of giving punishments. It's more on the lines of a compensating kind of punishment. So that is why when we see the US

If tomorrow, someone you know, someone you are close to, commits a crime and pays the price, is punished and then suggests that look, I'm now a changed person. But the society at large says no. Once you are a criminal, you're always a criminal. You don't change. How does that work then? So, yeah, tough questions, few answers. At least in this Biscuit Bano case. Whether it is objective, whether it is emotional

Hey, Ramya. I'm glad he spoke about this issue. You know, if you notice, many people haven't spoken about this issue. And I think this is a very serious issue. This gives a very strong image to the country and, you know, future criminals. It is shameful at things. Respectful for Bill Kiss Barneo, who fought her life for this case, where you just released the convex with no proper reasoning, and there is no proper reasoning to release convex

I'm sure you have seen the videos of these people being garlanded and felicitated by some people. It does make me wonder about the victim safety. So now she needs to deal with not just the trauma of her past but also live in constant fear of endangerment things is what is bothering me the most. So it's not enough that she had to undergo all that trauma run from pillar to post trying to get justice done. Now she needs to live in constant fear of am I safe?

Hi, Venkat. Thanks for joining the conversation and sharing your views. So, yes, even I came across this piece of news today that three petitions are going to be heard by the Supreme Court against the red submission of the life sentence. And I'm following this news scheme to see how things pan out. So maybe I will come back and continue this discussion based on what's the Supreme Court has to say. So, yeah, thanks again for joining

And which is why, as you also probably know by now, that there is a reexamination of the equity. And so these kind of cases are those which test your legal system, which test your objectivity. And perhaps this is what democracy is, however dysfunctional it might sound, that here is a criminal in front of us or a set of criminals who have committed a very grievous crime, yet they have a right to say it's, their right to express
