But I wanted to put this out here to see if anybody has seen this film and what they thought about it. So my experience watching it was I just dropped in. First of all, I wanted to be taken back to 18, I guess 43 or something. This is loosely based on the story about a tribe that had an entire army of women to defend its village

And if Viola Davis does not get an Oscar for this movie or some kind of award and I'm going to say something about it because this movie was just amazing. Viola Davis is an amazing actress and has a god given talent. I'm her biggest fan and I loved her when she was in how to get away with murder and the movies where she played a teacher fighting for special these students and opened her own school. So she's just an amazing actress with amazing talent

Oh, Deb, thank you so much. I had no idea this movie was out that existed and I've just got to watch the trailer. It looks incredible. Viola Davis what a force to be reckoned with. That the gravitas that she has on screen is mind bending. And the massive female cast, all those black women. Oh, my God. The power. The power rebellion against the bloody European colonization

I marked it on my calendar and I grabbed some girlfriends. I said, when it comes out, we're going to see that movie. And there was another movie that I said no matter what I was going to see, it was an ecological when it came out, I didn't care what I was doing. I was going to go see those movies because I Olive Dendrite Washington. But The Woman King really got to me before even seeing it. And I'm going to tell you why

You cannot listen to it and not be changed by it. It is difficult. I had all of the emotions, right? There were times when I was laughing, the times when I was celebrating with her. There are times when I was crying, times when I was angry, and you just come out the other end of it. And I'm still just in awe. To be able to see her again and to see her in such a role. I was looking forward to it
Or just looking back, the Roman Empire was this global power that did bring some good. The woman king, the Dahomey tribe or the homey kingdom. I'm sorry. You could say it brought some good. It brought some structure. It brought bureaucracy. You actually had a strong government. And, Deborah, I want to thank you for not not giving out any spoilers. Yeah. Thank you. And peace out. And also just imprinting on the minds of especially young black girls. That they can be these people and that cinema pardes about them and that we're going to spend millions of dollars on a movie to tell their story. And I think that's where I find such value in this film in terms of what Viola is doing to advance the film and to do her press junkets around the world. She's having these ceremonies and I mean, Brazil was amazing the way they received her
