Childhood movies that don't hold up

And in the previous movies, the movie at least tried to make some semblance, like some form of logic as to why these grown a** adults are trying to beat the s*** out of children. It's usually something along the lines like, well, this kid is I'm going to get seriously hurt because these kids are actually really good. So I have to defend myself. I'm not saying it's good logic, but that is the general premise of the movies

And we were talking about how prevalent it is not only in movies in the 90s, but also if you revisit a lot of the TV series from that time as well. There is so much weird stuff going on with homophobia and also gender and just really stupid jokes at the expense of women. None of that is surprising, but I think it's like a very weird and interesting experience to go back to things that you watched as a kid and they resonate so differently than you remember them

And like I said, Goldfinger and Thunderball are some of the ones that stick out to me personally. Whereas a kid I didn't realize how some of it made me uncomfortable even as a kid. But then as an adult, it's like that much worse. So, yeah, that's at least my purpose. Personal ones that just jumps to the front of my mind

I still do. But I would feel very uncomfortable having my young children watch them at this point until they are old enough to appreciate the context and the time they were made. And it's not just sexism, it's also the racial stereotype. There's so much that is wrong in those movies if you watch them now. But again, I'm a huge, huge p*** fan, Sean Connery fan. And those movies are still some of my all time favorites

It's very bizarre to think that that's the storyline and those are things that are happening and yeah, I mean, I guess suspension of disbelief, but there are a lot of movies that I feel that way about. I also think it's interesting to think about films from when we were growing up and how I guess what was acceptable for children to watch has shifted pretty gradually. I definitely think things have at least violence
