And you often wonder why are 150 people at any point in time waiting to have red omelette and a cup of tea from this small neighborhood joint, given the fact it is located right behind a fancy mall where you have fancy restaurants and probably you could get the best of gourmet omelettes done here. There were 150 people almost at all times during the day where they would just wait patiently to have a cup of tea

And this particular place that you're talking about seemed to embody much of that, and that businesses that have lasted for hundreds of years in various parts of the world make very different decisions than businesses who are focused on the quarterly profits. And, yeah, a really fascinating book, and it's cool to hear this sort of embodied in a word of mouth sort of experience. So thank you for sharing

In Mumbai, of course, people will not know one another, but it's just a quick bite to grab before you catch your local back home. But I think it makes a difference when, like you said, the owner just comes down and talks to you, chat with you. So there's a sort of warmth. And I have seen this also playing out in small cafeterias and candies, which are ironically called mess

And I really want to get back to popping my car up the road and seeing if a small shop has what I need. But I just feel like we all crave that connection, that friendship. It's like a baseline for us. The village is broken, but maybe the world can repair that safety sense of prioritization
