For or Against: U.S. should increase oil production?

article image placeholderUploaded by @arish
This particular topic for today, should the US increase oil production, there's a lot of nuances to that, especially in light of Earth Day, it becomes critical that we're moving towards a more sustainable kind of climate policies. But then you look at the energy issues that are dominating global politics and global what's happening with Russia and Ukraine, for example. And then you look at our domestic policy as well. So there are a lot of nuances in this issue

For in the short term

So here is the statement I'm going to make. I'm going to say the United States needs to get energy independent immediately. So if you take this statement as something that must be, then we have to look at what is short term, what is mediumterm and what is long term. So the long term should be clean energy, no doubt about it. Right

Then I think that that can be scary because then I think there's less incentive for people to stop producing that high amount of oil. But yeah, I'd say definitely, I think it's needed right now for the US reduce more oil

I am against

Corporations hold most of the blame when it comes to climate change, but I also feel like this translates in a different way. If there's going to be a decrease in oil production, I feel that there should be a higher incentive to create widespread public transportation. America is centered around cars and car culture. This might be a little bit unrealistic, but I feel that most cars should become hybrids or electric or slash and public transportation should be more widespread

We are against. 🙏🏽🧘🏽‍♂️💭

We don't agree that oil is a problem and we don't agree that America should start producing oil because if they started doing that, that would just justify the price going up for oil. Like now that America has to produce their own oil, you think $5 is a lot it's going to go up because the cost of doing anything in America is extravagantly expensive. We can barely hire our own to do things we can barely host. American made, American ran companies

FOR in the short term. @sudha

Four. And I need not repeat what Sudha said, because I agree with everything she said. So that's easy

Let's apply common sense, apply sustainability and just hold hold back a little bit. If we exercise a little bit of discipline and a little bit of intelligence, we can solve this problem
