Hometown. The streets are empty most nights unless the warm summer has delivered tourists back to nest for a couple of months. Otherwise, the town is still the same as it was 50 years ago. Same families running the same businesses. No one ever talks about the people that have left. They talk about the dead with great affection. But the people who have packed up and made successful lives elsewhere are taboo. I did the same. Left as soon as freedom smiled
