To Mastodon or not to Mastodon?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Tim
So I'm wondering what you're seeing and whether you are going to be participating in an exit from Twitter or if you're doing a wait and see. Interesting to note that there's been rumors of Jack Dorsey creating an alternative platform called Blue Sky. I'm not sure that's going to be an alternative to Twitter. It might actually be a new kind of standard in I don't know what the term is back in posting and microblogging that Twitter could actually easily adopt

As Twitter heads for a meltdown, people are looking at alternatives. Are you? #twexit #mastodon #twitter #socialmedia

I am hedging my bets… #Mastodon #Twitter #Twexit

In the event that people do wish to find me on Master, I am at Divadon Social. I've put something in the description box or hashtags links. I'll put something there. I'll stop now because I feel I'm rambling

So moving back to the sort of indie web mentality thinking blog first syndicate out and if you want to do microblogging, then do it on platforms that are open source like Mastodon, and there's ones that are open source ones equivalent to Instagram pixel phase. I've also tried out a few others. I've tried out and been trying out Counters Social, which is quite interesting platform itself. So I've been over there

Hey, I think you should use well, too, by the way, because it's where your voice is heard. But it's so interesting that you had the account for so long. Macedon and I think time is a commodity, and we have to decide, you know, where we we feel most connected, where we feel most effective and what we're trying to get out of this world of social connection. But it's interesting. It's been so long

And I noticed some people are into social media for some marketing, so they have a business or they're an artist and they're trying to get their stuff out there, their product or service, their art, and they want to get that to the widest number of people

@Tim I'm a chronic dumpster fire watcher

And I can do that extremely quickly with Twitter and really see both sides and just see if my line of thought is correct or tracking with either one of them and what I'm missing. And so Twitter does such a great job of allowing me to do that very quickly. And that's something I enjoy seeing, is just both sides of an issue. But then there's a side of me that just loves watching a dumpster fire. I love watching Scott Frost coach Nebraska to three wins a season

I think it's just Twitter has become much more diminished platform, but it's still much bigger and has a skill that nobody else has. Don't think anybody's going anywhere

But the problem is ease of use again becomes a huge thing here because most people would find it a bit taxing or would find it really challenging to conquer mastered on. So I'm not sure if Master Lowe is going to be that replacement that everyone needs, that Twitter alternative that instantly makes sense and people can just dive in and be themselves online. I don't think Macedon is going to reach that unless they change how fundamentally the platform behaves or the platform is open

But I went on there just to kind of see what everyone's talking about, how ugly it's gotten, and I found a tweet by a new social media app called tribal, tribal social, and it's spelled Tribel, which I think is very unfortunate. It sounds like something else. Anyway, I started an account and I've been liking it quite a bit, but it's kind of a mashup between Facebook and Twitter

For most of the world, they would get on Mastodon and go, what the heck? I don't understand any of this. So they just go where they're comfortable. For some it's a tumblr. Others snapchat. Instagram. Of course, obviously a lot of moms I know love Pinterest, so really just hang where you like it. Social media should be joyful, it should be enjoyable, or it should be joyful and informative. That's how I relate to it
