One of the Best Books of the Century
In particular, as a Black woman, I was particularly moved by the various interactions she describes with her Indian colleagues whose lives have been haunted by caste despite immigrating to other countries and garnering achievements well beyond caste expectations. I feel confident saying this one of the best books of published of the past century definitely make time to read it and discuss with those you love and let me know what you think
I read all of these books that really didn't help my development as a human that I will never, ever read again. And this seems like something that will be super impactful in my life. And yeah, I don't know. It's just sad that this isn't something thing that I've already read, basically is what I'm trying to say. But I'm excited to read it now. Thanks again for sharing Bowie

And this plus a black woman's history of the United States were just amazing to read back to back because there are so many stories that just at least in my education in public schools, absolutely not covered at all. And I think what's particularly incredible about Cast is just the way she makes an argument about how Cast functions in the US and actually how social researchers have been studying Cast in the US for much longer than I ever knew is potentially life changing for some people

Hey, Bowie, I'm staying away from this conversation for now only because I'm waiting for a book club tomorrow. Actually, a book club tomorrow. So after that discussion, I think I'd like to come back in here and do a dash. That's why I didn't even start the cast thread here. When I finished the book, I was like, Let me hold off till my book club. Yeah. No, I liked it. It's a five star for a change

I know we talked about Cast in Book Club for what a book Club was like, an hour and a half, and I cut it off in an hour and a half because the truth of this is we could still be talking about it. I mean, from last Thursday to now, we could still be talking about it. And I felt like the next day I was like, oh, man, I wish we'd have discussed this
