So I'm about to head out the door. It's about a half hour drive, and if it is loud enough and recording is allowed, I may record some things here and there to share with you. And if not, if I'm not allowed, I will definitely come back out and let you know what I learned and some of my favorite things that stuck with me. Okay, more soon

And that person has very little to do with the person who actually wrote the book or started to come up with the idea of the book. I do remember on the day I first started thinking that this was a novel, I had notebooks and my notebooks were really messy and I just use them to just reassociate whatever I feel like. And I remember on that day I have two things going on, and the first is a little note about them

And so you get better, I think, at doing it, because you've done it a long time. So what I have learned is that the more organized I am while I'm writing, the more I can be free to do things that are creative. And so, yeah, I had long complicated lists of birthdays and dates and times and exactly when this happened and that happened. So I probably had like a twelve page timeline that I kept adding to as the book went on

And it's something people just repeat and repeat as a way of saying spend a lot of money making a game with a female main character. But that said, games like Laura Cross exist and do really, really well. I think what's interesting about it is how kind of lore becomes things that drive business and then in certain ways lead to this sort of sexism in certain industries. Hate when people say this, but I think basically there are two kinds of novelists

But so, going through my old books, I find that I have to go through one of them, because this book has done quite well. They are rereleasing some of them in audio, or rereleasing some of them again in paper, and going through them again, I felt really sad for that person, me. I wish that that person had been more generous toward everybody in the world, and it seemed the world with a kinder eye

And in fact, and it'll sound like be a cliche to say, but the only thing to do in life, if you want to make things, the only thing that is a certainty is if you try to make art, there is a chance of fail. And so, again, I'm not sure what the question was that led to this random failure. I don't remember. You don't remember?

That baby come out of the gate and just, like, write a brilliant book. But that wasn't true for me. You know, I think I've gotten better over the years from having from having done it. And so I remember when I finished writing this book, you know, I turned to my partner and I said, I really don't care how it does, because I feel really satisfied with the work that I've done here

So there's no room for anything like that in this stupid movie. But if it was, I mean, it'll be a wonderful movie. I'm just saying. But I think it would be nice to have the room to have a scene like that. It doesn't seem, strictly speaking, like when you're kind of writing a screenplay, everything has to be pushing that plot forward

Think so. You know, I think that, you know so we're avoiding speaking of spoilers tonight. I know, but from my point of view, this is a book about two people who are people who are stated by they're not stated by it, but the kind of highest expression of themselves is the work they make together, you know

And so it felt a little bit like magical timing, sort of similar to when you pick up the right book at just the right time, and it resonates so deeply and feels like a comforting companion amidst what can feel like the chaos of life. So I hope if you listen to this, there's something useful in it. You too, would love to hear any responses or comments whenever you come across this at any point. Happy reading, happy writing, happy being alive
