They won't listen. They won't hear, they won't try to understand. They take it very personally. They can't handle you being judgmental or you being negative or you being in a bad space, because they make it about them, and they think it's a reflection of them, which it's not. And so it turns into a big, heated argument. So they are very wildly defensive all the time. The inability to just listen and reflect and hear and validate your feelings

I actually recommend starting off discussions with the phrase same team just to remind each other that you are both on the same team, or at least you should be on the same team. It's you two against the problem, not you two against each other. You're not enemies and you're not adversaries. If you consider your partner to be an enemy or an adversary, then you really should not be in a relationship with them because that is not a healthy, loving relationship. All right?
