My family lived in a tent for 4 months! An experiment in living.

"…So we filtered water and haul water in from the town. And John and I would work remotely. So we would go to coffee house, borrow their WiFi, use a hot spot in our tent, and work from there. And he would travel. He would actually leave and go to his work, and I would continue to camp with my kids. So it was fascinating. Some of the moments were not fun. Some of it was sublime.…"

"…Hi. I think this is so cool. I would love to see a picture of the setup if you're willing to post it, but no worries if not. I'm just trying to visualize visualize July is how you described it. But I have always been curious about taking some time, like, a long, extended time on the road and just camping.…"

"…So you're not completely cut off or sheltered, but also you're not completely sheltered. Right. So you also have the exposure to extremes, and we found lots of ways to deal with that, but I actually thought it was a really important part of the experience. You have some shelter, but you're not completely able to just plug in, turn on a heater, and watch Netflix. Right.…"

"…Hey Jennifer, I just saw this finally. I knew you posted it, but then I didn't see it until now cause you mentioned you were going to. Wow, this sounds so important as an experiment for you and your family, but more important, importantly, just modeling for people that this is possible. And the idea of living closer to earth, I know that plays right into the idea that our bodies are craving that connection, that physical, that connection.…"

"…I think a lot of humans like adventure. And that means when you adventure, generally, at least for us, it means getting out into nature, getting on your feet, maybe riding bikes. We love paddleboarding. That's super fun. Or kayaking, generally, just kind of getting out of the car, getting out of the house. I guess that's the only two things we really work on get out of the car and get out of the house.…"

"…And she's like, oh, yeah, I thought I'm going on the retreat. And I knew it was going to be out in nature, and I want to connect to nature. But she was like, oh, my gosh, I didn't know that. It was like, this is real nature. Like, we're really camping. We're really doing this.…"

"…Hey, thanks for giving me the update. That was just great. I thought it was so funny that towards the end you mentioned the owls. I've had a lot of really up close wildlife experiences. I mean, a lot. But by far the most significant have been with owls. I don't know if you call me obsessed with them, but they're in my life a lot. It's just kind of wild. It sounds like it really enlivened you.…"

"…Thanks for listening. Yes. Ow. Medicine. I still haven't had time to look that up, but, yeah, really powerful. And, yeah, the full immersive of experience, it was a lot. Next time I'm not going to say if next time, I say when. Next time I host something like this again. I think that what I learned, that I need to spend more time grounding down.…"

"…I'm going to talk about it on my own little swell cast thing as I go and progress. But did a similar thing when I chose to do Van life. Honestly, I didn't really know much about Van life. I kind of didn't even know that it was really a big thing, to be honest. And so I just decided that I was going to move into a van.…"
