Number one, educate yourselves if you don't know the difference between sex and gender or current LGBT related news and issues, educate yourselves. Ask questions, do research, and don't be afraid to be honest about what you don't know and don't expect the people who come out to you to educate you. Also show them you care by putting in time and work to understand them
