My Thoughts on CBSE's Misogynistic Opinion Piece in the 2021 Board Exam

It blamed the lack of parental authority for the recklessness and the nonchalant nature of modern teenagers. When I read that, I was like, okay, I guess. And then I talked about how a century ago the man was the quote unquote master of the house. And I kind of agree with that too, sadly, because that's how the society was back then and women were just considered secondary members of the family, secondary members of the nation, and they were just excluded overall

Part 2

After reading the first paragraph, I started getting a little mad. I started thinking, why are they talking like this? They're probably going to start talking about how women started getting equal saying things and, you know, how they started getting rights and freedom. But no. Well, actually they did, but in a very passive aggressive tone. Now you can read the second paragraph of the second part of this passage, and I'll talk about how I felt about that in the next clip

Part 3

What people were slow to observe was the emancipation of the wife destroyed the parents authority over the children. The mother did not exemplify the obedience upon which she still tried to insist. There was more room now for disagreement between the parents, enabling the child to appear from one to another, eventually ignoring both in bringing the man down from his pedestal, the wife and the mother deprived herself, in fact, of all means of discipline. So my job dropped

This one question 🤔💭

See, while changing Moras could be easily garnered from this passage, irrespective of whether or not you agree with the piece or not. The problem arises not from the text itself, but what CBSC asked teachers to treat as the correct answer to these questions. And there was this one question in particular that made no sense to me. But it wasn't the question itself. But the answer that triggered me

And Ireland is a very different society from India. And that idea that children will be able to play mother off against father. Well, I was brought up in Ireland very influenced by my mother, I have to say, who held a view that if one of my parents had agreed to something, that the other parent was bound by it, and I have carried that viewpoint

So, yeah, I guess this is sad to say, but the luckier match and about the misogyny it's absolutely. I was so astonished when I read it. I could not believe this was an actual passage that they gave in a CVSC 10th grade board exam that so many kids were going to write. And I agree with you. It's very opinionated and very the right message to spread. But yeah, thank you so much for talking about it. And Yeah
