The DEB Show on Swell with Seth Goldstein, host of the Entrepreneur's Enigma Podcast
Welcome to the Dev show. unswell. I'm Deborah Ekerling, and today I'm talking with Seth Goldstein, entrepreneur and a host of the entrepreneur's Enigma podcast. So, Seth, tell me about yourself and your podcast

Hey, Deb. Thanks for inviting me. Yeah, this is a neat platform, and I've been a podcaster since 2010, long enough ago that I can't remember. I'm a former journalist turned digital marketer, turned podcast host, turned first adopter of interesting gadgets into things. This kind of works out nicely. And entrepreneur's enigma podcast. A podcast about entrepreneurship, mostly about entrepreneurs, and how they are faced with challenges day in and day out

That is so awesome. So tell me, what inspired the Entrepreneur's Enigma podcasts?
Seth Goldstein

So I was actually in Vermont visiting my mom, and I wanted to do a solo podcast. I've been podcasting for a while. Multiple guests, multiple hosts, all that kind of stuff. And I wanted to do a solo podcast just about my experiences. But being a journalist, I am, I don't like to hear myself talk. So I ended up thinking, saying, I forget that. Let's go and interview people. So I got to interview Deb

Okay, so you started as a solo and you ended up interviewing people, which is really funny because when I started doing Goal Chat Live, I think the first two were just me talking, and then I said, no, I need people. So I love that. What do you hope the I'd say the entrepreneur community, but really the business community, the startup community. What is it that you hope people get from listening to your show?

I hope they have fun. They enjoy the time they spend with us. It's only a 20 minutes podcast. And they learn that they're not alone. That either. Bigname entrepreneurs go through similar trials and tribulations to say, I guess that makes the most sense. And they learn that you shouldn't be ashamed of failure. Failure is not a bad thing. Failure is chance to pivot. And sometimes you don't have to fail. And sometimes you get acquired and everything's rosy and wonderful

So what do you think? Is entrepreneurship a choice, or are people, like, called to it?
Seth Goldstein
@sethgoldstein · 0:26
I don't know, to be honest with you. I think that sometimes people fall trip, stumble into entrepreneurship because of outside influences like the economy. Other people choose to go into entrepreneurship because they have an idea that they want to do an answer to somebody. Others feel calling, I guess, or they inherit it from their family. And that's their entrepreneurial journey. It really depends on the person and their situation surrounding them

So what about you? Did you fall into the entrepreneurial abyss or did you run with open arms? Or was it a little bit of both?
Seth Goldstein
@sethgoldstein · 0:35
So I started my own business to get the job, and and I just kept going, much to my wife's. Degrading kept going, actually, because she said, get a job. And I'm like, well, this is going well, and she's like, don't get a job. So it was fun
