#thecheckin - Ep. 4: Oh, so thats the Context

article image placeholderUploaded by @The79thstreetkd
History shows that if you pick up your history books and learn and read, both parties are essentially very problematic. And unfortunately, with just two parties as an option during our electoral time periods, it is picking the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, that is the concept when deciding who gets to be leader. But the issue is that we still fall into these traps of I'm better than you or look how silly they are, particularly Trump voters

We’re one year away from Election season, and its still media business as usual.

And so I think there's like a lot of things wrapped up in it from personal psychology of how one wants to create or shape value for one's life, how one wants to, quote unquote, get ahead or perceive getting ahead, image, hierarchies, belonging, teams, so to speak. It's all very divisive and toxic but also all interwoven together. And I'm sure there's more there that I'm either forgetting or missing entirely

But at some point or another, we need to address the monkey in the room and see that both sides don't want people educated. They want them exactly the way they are. Because what it would allow is for whoever's agenda who's the most popular or the most beneficial for whatever side is the predominant for the period to succeed. I was talking the other day how the idea that we designate states into colors is not an old phenomena. We never referred to states as red state or blue states

The massive machine moves so slowly have family members that work in different areas of it, and it's like so antiquated when it comes to the systems, let alone when it become to politics. And trying to change that seems insurmountable. And so then I think, well, we've got to be able to start at least with the citizens

And I think for the most part, I wouldn't necessarily say it's problematic. I just think if anything, it's a generalized perspective because what does it mean to be a Republican? What does it mean to be a Democrat? Especially when you have people who vote based on who they like and who is the best candidate. Democrats can vote for Republicans. Republicans can vote for Democrats. They're liberal leaning conservatives, and there are conservative liberals

Driving apathy

I think that affected a lot of people. To say, I can't get that's a little bit too crazy for me, that is just idiotic, and I can't be a part of that group. But I honestly think that's where the psychology behind this is going, is really to drive a would be voter to apathy to where they don't vote. And they're already relinquishing the fact that, hey, I'm never going to get this guy to vote for my candidate
