What do you consider a "Cult Classic"?

So cult movies, cult classics really gain traction over time. But now, thanks to social media there are so many movies that can kind of get put back on us and a lot of people, it kind of clicks something for them. I'm all for movies being rediscovered because there are a few movies where I've watched before and I'm like, and then I kind of come back to them. All right

Repo Man (1984)

For me, the movie that defines cult classic is Repo Man from 1984, the low budget indie punk rock movie from Alex Cox starring Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton. I saw it when it came out, and I didn't understand. I was 17 years old. Perfect age to see it, didn't understand it. Went back the next week to watch it again and in the theaters? In the theaters. And I think it was still a low budget

And my first exposure to it, I remember that it was kind of highly populous, was highly publicized by way of video and that's where it got, like a lot of exposure, like you were saying. And the funny thing is, I remember my parents renting it on a cassette, of course, and my dad tried watching it and he was big in war movies and stuff like that. A lot of the stuff had to be super straightforward
