Simone Biles withdraws from the Olympics

article image placeholderSimone Biles withdrew from final 'to focus on my mental health' — here's how to tell if you need a break
And I think that this is a really sobering reminder of not only how much work is involved with sport and with people that are trained to go to the Olympics, but really how much pressure we're putting on these young athletes, maybe intentionally at times, but also definitely unintentionally. Simone Biles is young. She's been in the limelight for a long time. There are millions and millions and millions of people that look up to her, young girls that look up to her and aspire to be like her

Taylor, this one is really shocking. And we had talked about mental health issues on on some different swells. And it was really around Naomi Osaka and Osaka withdrawing from the French Open and Wimbledon due to mental health issues. And she was on the cover of two time, and she penned an article column saying, it's okay not to be okay. And I think that was a watershed moment that really kind of gave Simone Biles that out to say, I'm not okay physically, mentally

She made a hard and necessary choice.

Well said Taylor. Yeah, I know this was a tough decision for her, and there was a lot of risk for her to make this decision. But, of course, you've got to value your health over or anything else because you got to look out for yourself because unfortunately, a lot of these coaches aren't looking out for these young athletes
