School shooting in Michigan leaves 3 students dead

article image placeholderLive updates: At least 3 killed in shooting at Michigan high school
And in cases like this where a 15 year old gets their hands on a weapon, there's very, almost little that can be done about that outside of the parents being a bit more responsible and that's not to blame the parents for the violence of the child. I don't know if the child got the gun from their home, but that's usually where these things end up going

Not shocked. Which is sad too

And that's what's so upsetting, as well as it seems like there's just room enough for people's tolerance. They're just, like, bring it on in. Let's just have more of these experiences to sort of remind us that this happens. But it seems like we have this societal green light saying it's okay. Keep on doing this, because if we didn't, then there'd be a red light and we do the things to safeguard each other from this happening again

Thank you for this post. Taylor, this is actually how I found out about this disaster. I can't believe this is still happening. Can't believe there's nothing that we can do as a society to stop this from ever happening again. I just can't believe that that's the case. There's got to be a way that we can all get together and agree to fix this situation. I'm beginning to think even shaking down the students at school is a reasonable option at this point

And I won't even attempt to understand the complexities and why on Earth a 15 year old could manage to get their hands on a gun and do it. This is so foreign to Ireland, not entirely the UK, because it has happened, but it's so difficult to understand for me anyway, over here in Ireland, that I won't even try. But America is not a society where this happens frequently. That's something I do know for a fact

See these shootings as an effect and not a cause. And they are an effect, not a failure of gun policy, but they are the effects of what American culture actually is. This is what American culture produces

I wish you all the very best. I wouldn't expect the system in America, whatever that means. And I don't know what it means, but I wouldn't expect systemic change to take place. Perhaps I'm wrong

So until we have a social system, a justice system, a legal system that learns how to prioritize those who are in the greatest harm. First, until we have a legal system that in social system that recognizes children science, we're not going to escape the effects of America. We're just not going to do it. It is my personal opinion that people who do not live here think that we are crazy, that we look crazy, that we are extreme, that we are brutal and violent

So two poets have made a big influence in my life from the United States. One is Walt Whitman, whose influence I couldn't exaggerate. So his poetry has influenced me enormously until she died. Mary Oliver was my favorite living poet. Well, favorite living American poet and probably favorite living poet of all. I'd have some familiarity with the works of some American ports. I am a Port, so that's a vested interest I have

A specific set of ideas about self in the world have prevailed here, and the effects of that are also tied to allowing proliferated violence to take place even within schools. That is how toxic the ideologies of America are, where they have spilled over and affected our children, and we do nothing about it

And I say this in Jesso, in America, when we have a sporting competition in the final winners of that sporting competition, if that sporting competition only happens in America, we call them world Champions. That's the hubris we have. So it makes you wonder if we can truly evaluate what is fair and unfair. When I see this school shooting, I wonder, is this fair and unfair? It's terrible. But here's the thing
