Spotify Is Removing Neil Young Songs After He Complains of Misinformation on the Joe Rogan Podcast

article image placeholderSpotify Is Removing Neil Young Songs After He Complains of ‘Misinformation’
That has been one of the most popular shows in the world for a very long time. Spotify recently signed a very lucrative deal with Joe Rogan. And let's be honest here, they do make a lot of money from that deal. Now, I think that whether you believe in the COVID vaccine or not, Neil Young is really taking issue with a large amount of misinformation that has been peddled on Joe Rogan's podcast over the years

Really upsetting

So that Spotify does not go, by the way, of Facebook, where Facebook basically decided it's not their responsibility to really, truly own the vernicious effects their bad content has on the world. So Spotify has got kind of a young Facebook in the sense that they're showing us in a very clear way that they want to pay somebody a lot of money no matter what he says. And Neil Young is just kind of the Canary in the coal mine

It’s all entertainment for me.

I don't think we're there yet, but we might be close, but we never should have looked to entertainers for news to begin with. Let them entertain, and maybe they can entertain via news. But when I watched the Daily Planet or I read The Onion, you know what I mean? It was fun. It wasn't something like I thought this was serious and how could they lie to us and spread this? I don't know

Just unfollow the weird

And I think he purposely tries to make himself controversial. But I think Spotify is making a mistake because just last year in December, they removed about 150 hours of podcasts on their platform that removed racist and racial bigotry. There was a podcast that was spewing anti Holocaust rhetoric. And they found that it was wrong, that it was hurting communities and people. And so they decided, we're going to take this off, we're going to take a stand

And I said, well, if he's selling it, it ain't legit, let me tell you that I know that for certain. And he said, no. The guy told me it's legit. It'll cure covet. And I said, all right, let me do literally five minutes of research about this. Please tell me and I'll get back to you with a bunch of information telling you that this is complete bullshit

it’s still early in this saga

As soon as I heard Neil Young was making an ultimate hey, it's either me or Joe Rogan, I knew who Spotify was going to side with. I wonder how strict their contract is with Joe Rogan. Obviously. Obviously they've sunked so much money into him and are getting so much back in terms of ad revenue. But I wonder if they can put a flag on his content

Here's a funny fact you may not know because I'm invested in the stocks and I'm invested in the stocks heavily. Almost every single member of Congress, not all, but almost every single member of Congress is advocating for vaccines and I'm in no way, shape or form saying that vaccines are bad. I in fact have been vaccinated. But when every member of Congress is advocating for vaccines but they just so happen to be invested in the very same companies that make these vaccines

Spotify had no choice… hear me out…

So the way I'm looking at it is from a Spotify perspective, they may have to make a decision whether to remove some of Joe Rogan's episodes or do whatever. And there's obviously kind of business interest in all of those involved. And as the listeners kind of clamor for getting Juror going off because he's spreading misinformation, that's a decision they should take based on that, based on what they feel is the right thing to do

@arish I don’t think this was even brought to Daniel Ek’s attention 🤣

They probably had their mind made up about what they were going to do before the memo got across the important desk of Daniel Eck. It probably didn't even get to Daniel Eck. And I think Neil Young is also probably smart enough to know that they would not budge either. He's really been a guy who's all about making statements and putting his money where his mouth is. He will lose some revenue as a result of this, and he seems to be okay with it, but ours

A little on Neil Young

After that, I just thought, well, now I know I don't have to watch a show ever in. And that's when I realized exactly what do I said, that's just entertainment. He's saying what he needs to say to get ratings, to get money, no more, no less for me
