RIP Diego Maradona

article image placeholderArgentina legend Maradona dies at 60
And to think of how many were inspired by him drew direct inspiration from him. I just repeated the two same things, but I'm obviously a little flustered. I mean, people like Messi would not be who they are if it were not for an individual such as Rip. Diego Maradona, man who had over 490 senior appearances, over 250 senior goals. Absolutely. Our Argentina's nationals team ran a lot of the private clubs there. He was a force to be reckoned with in global football

@CaliGooner remembering the Hand of God

I'll tell you what, the British sports world and to a T, nearly every British sports writer holds rip Diego Maradona much lower regard than most of the sporting world. I think just because of the Hand of God and the cocaine habit and the binges. Yes, but I will miss the man. Well, actually, I missed the man from when he was back at £150, not the bloated man that became a victim of the excesses. Yeah. Rest in peace

But after I said what I said, I realized that there kind of was a buried pun there. But yeah, at any rate, the amount of affection and adoration I've seen come out today from the footballing world has been just incredible. Pretty much every athlete in world football that you can think of has created some sort of post in his honor. Really wild to think that we lost both him and Kobe in the same year

But Topgold similar to you. I don't have fond memories of the Hand of God game. I was actually working as a dishwasher. And the two dishwashers that I worked with on every shift were both Argentinian immigrants, didn't speak a lot of English. Nio was one of the names, and I can't recall the other one, but they were looking for anybody to gamble with that 1986 year. And I like to gamble. So I was like, yeah, sure

Phil, thanks for sharing. That was a great story. I can just imagine the disappointment after losing that cash, especially given the circumstances. But at any rate, I will wanted to recommend there's actually a documentary on HBO. So if you have HBO, Go or HBO Max, there's a fantastic documentary about Maradona. And there's so much footage from back into a day. It's really incredible to see you feel like you are there with him

And one more thing I wanted to add in watching the documentary, I really got the same vibe that I that I got the first time I saw any footage of Beatlemania and the way that Maradona is truly rated in some of the places that he goes, namely, in the city of Naples and also in Argentina, is just wild. I mean, he is beyond a celebrity there. So I just wanted to add it's really, really remarkable to see all the footage
