The Batman: Why does it take so long to get characters "right"?

article image placeholderThe Batman - Movie Review
Well, I thought of another thing that I guess I just wanted to bring up, and that's the fact that people that I know who are not entirely gone on superhero films, especially the Marvel ones of late, pretty much all of them adored this new Batman film

I’m hearing assumptions in your questions

Taylor. I'm going to push back on the question about why does it take so long to get a character right? Or why have there been so many missed opportunities? Because I totally understand where you're coming from, but I have a totally understanding of the Batman story in my life, my generation, my age. So to me, superhero stories are just the latest iteration of the morality tales human beings have been telling for thousands of years. Stories of gods, demigods, heroes

Hey Tim, thank you for the response. I love your responses as always. You always bring a great perspective to things. And honestly, you're right. I mean, if you were to, you know, look on a case by cases basis at each person and what sort of Batman they were first exposed to. Yeah. I mean, in my case, it's crazy. It's going to sound

Hi, Taylor. I'm so excited to see this movie. I love Batman, I love Robert Pattinson, so I'm definitely excited to see this movie, and I'm glad you were talking about it. You make an interesting point why it's so difficult to kind of portray these big pop culture characters

And it kind of just goes to show you age where you're first exposed to the character, what medium you're exposed to the character. I think to Tim's point, if the first time you ever experienced Batman was Tim Burton's Batman or the Batman Animated Series, you're going to have a very different view of Batman than if you've seen, like, I don't know, The Dark Knight, and that was your first Batman film

You know that I've got a tattoo of the guy on my arm, and the character for me is my obsessive love, I suppose. I collected comic books. I read even the most recent trades, which I'm not happy with, but that's for a different thread. But yeah, I know your first experience was Batman Forever, which don't get me wrong, I liked it
