So he goes on to explain that at one point this helmet was likely adorned with diamonds or gold and velvet. But the circumstances around it are kind of strange because like I said, it was gifted and why you would gift something that's so ugly or carries with it. This sort of notion that it might depict the devil itself or a court jester almost is odd

Hey, come round my tent for a cup of wine, celebratory meat or whatever. And as they're in there, Henry was like, oh, you got some interesting stuff in there that's kind of interesting. And Maximilian's like, oh, h***, yeah. Well, of course I brought that for you. You take it homemade. You. I mean, yeah, it could be ceremonial. Could have some bog meeting

Taylor, I'm going to just take a jab at this. I have no idea. But if I were to imagine, I would think, you know, they had a game they gambled over and they said, hey, loser gets that and remind them that they lost. And every time he looks at it, he will know that he lost that particular game. Maybe that's what this is. It's an inside joke between the two of them

So I'm going to go all out here and just assume that Henry VIII was probably someone with a self deprecating sense of humor, perhaps who quite possibly did not mind giving his courtiers a good laugh or a good scare, as the case might be, but very intriguing, though. Thanks for sharing

I think Maximilian would have wanted to see the reaction on Henry AIDS face when he gifted this to him. You know, must have probably done this for effect. And naturally, being a gift is it must have been really difficult for Henry to refuse. So he had to live with this gift, I think like 10%. It's like a white elephant for sure
