Parents are trying to have school principal fired over her love of Iron Maiden

article image placeholderParents Want High School Principal Removed For Listening To IRON MAIDEN; Students Rally Behind Her - Loaded Radio
I really do think that this is a topic that deserves some time in the spotlight because it's an issue that I think teachers really have to deal with too much. That job is one where you're already walking on eggshells at every single hour of the day

And then I suppose, because I'm not a parent myself. I'll invite a few other individuals that I know are parents. I wonder what you all think. Is this ridiculous? Is it totally reasonable? Visitable? Let me know what you think

Critical thinking skills are more important than questionable content

I hope they turn out all right. They will certainly be in touch with other cool teachers. I know because there are a lot of them and the teachers who engage with students that way often open a window that not all other teachers can't Ann. So I just hope for those kids that eventually along the line they have another teacher that inspires and isn't scared to be themselves. So those are my two cent. Thank you

He was a teacher for a long time, but that would have been a concern as a parent, that would have been a concern, I can honestly say from my perspective, as a parent, I have never been on one of my daughter's teachers Facebook page or Twitter page. I don't know their personal. I don't want to know their personal lives if they listen to Iron Maiden power to them

Thanks for bringing up this discussion

Now, if the parents don't want the teacher or the principal to be there and their dollars talk, then I guess that the school just has to deal with it. If it's the Church itself, it has a problem with it. Well, they can decide what they want the school to be teaching in itself. Maybe the question is, isn't the school but Catholic doctrine or Catholic belief system interpreted by some is not ignorant, or they are just making wrong collusions about it

Hey, Taylor, this actually reminds me of the case that, you know, there was this case, I think a few months back where a girl was, I think suspended either from her school or from her, I don't know, game or something like that because of what she posted on Instagram. I think she was unhappy with the way the coach didn't include her in the team, and she posted about it on Instagram

Playing the "devil’s advocate" for a moment…

So let me be the Devil's advocate here. And the delicious irony of using that phrase in this context is not lost on me. But I went up and looked up the original petition from the parents as well as the children. And the point is really that since this was done from an official account, not the personal account of the principal and that's kind of what they were objecting to. I'm sure there are many more layers to the story that we will never find out

Good point, but we have to draw a line between parental frivolity and harmf

I know I'm getting myself into all sorts of trouble, but it's a lot different than liking a band or wearing a band T shirt and wearing their iconography. There's absolutely no harm in as I mentioned earlier in Rattling Chains, where mega is very much harmful. Yeah. So anyway, those are my two cent

@JLMcMillan The parents are not objecting to musical iconography

And their objection here is that because the principal put and again, it's not the band's iconography assemble just that the principal explicitly in a handcrafted symbol put the symbol six, six in a sign that is what they're objecting to and from the official account of the principal, not from a personal account. So I would say religious beliefs and political beliefs are at the same level in many ways and should be treated equally seriously. If anything, that is where we need to give people a chance

This smacks of Christian agenda

The school should be a secular place, but I don't see how a teacher displaying a 6669 is any different than teachers with the Christian fish symbol in the back whether or not the principle is a Satanist, even if they are actually they should in the spirit of inclusion, be able to express that it doesn't infringe on other people's rights. It doesn't create any harm. And I just wonder what their parents and the petition what their spirit of inclusion really means
