Memes. Yay or Nay?

article image placeholderUploaded by @tanishasheikh
Hi SVIL Community for today's. Svalkas I have a very interesting question. Recently we all have been hearing about the Ukraine and Russia military tensions and how Russia has involved in Ukraine cities and trying to capture the place. And on the other hand, I've been seeing a lot of memes on Instagram and there are people who are laughing at it and just enjoying it and treating it as a typical gym thing. And then there are others who are like but hurt and they're little against it

So hey, Tanisha. Yeah. I think what you ask here is a valid question. I mean, a lot of people have this doubt and I personally believe in think it's a necessary thing to educate people. This means it's good for you to educate a lot of people. There are a lot of people who doesn't follow geopolitics and do get these things to people who doesn't follow geopolitics. They do not want geopolitics, but still they somehow get dedication through means

Okay. Yeah, this is great. Tanisha, I love that you mentioned this memes culture at this, you know, perfect opportunity because. Yeah, this is a really serious event. It could back of World War Three. And to be immediately creating a joke out of it is highly insensitive. And I don't think that it's getting its respect. Like, this is actually killing people and ruining lives. It's not like coven

If you scroll through Instagram or other meme sites, you're just going to find that it's just memes are on everything and anything. So it's just become this whole trend, sort of a Genzi trendy thing that I don't find it good. I think it's kind of ridiculous because as long as it's limited to humor, it's fine

And what I observed in general is that most of these memes, they are made by ignorant people who don't even know what's actually going on, and they just hear something in the news. They read maybe one article and they just think of how I can spin this into a meme. I've seen many memes that they confuse United Nations with NATO or maybe NATO with the EU

Memes in general are great. I love watching them. I enjoy them. There's nothing wrong about them. But, you know, currently in this situation, memes about Russia and Ukraine, it's I don't know. I just don't feel right about those ones because while we're laughing at watching them, someone is dying out there in the war

I feel like for our generation, humor is such a big coping mechanism. And honestly, if you're not making it funny, then sometimes it comes across as, like, too serious or too heavy. I don't know. It's kind of interesting. Our generation takes things way differently than past generations would and do, so I think it just depends on the person

We are literally hosting someone or we are just making on the other hand, I think that one should remain in their limits while making a meme, as not every topic is very normal, sometimes the metadata is very sensitive and one should stay there. So thank you so much for talking about talking on this topic. I really like whatever you said. Thank you. Bye

Hey, Shivam, thank you so much for replying. I'm so glad that you like my spell. So what do you think? Do you think it's okay to make memes on sensitive topics? Do let me know that too
