article image placeholderUploaded by @TalkWithAnna
But the death of mr. Smith allows us to understand and connect that it is not that long ago. A few little facts about mr. Daniel smith. He was born in 1932 and he lived a quiet life. He would say so himself. But just imagine what he has seen and experienced throughout his lifetime. He did march in 1963. He crossed the bridge in selma with reverend dr. Martin luther king in 1965. And he had an opportunity to watch president barack Obama to his first oath of office in 2009

Hi, Anna. Thank you so much for starting this conversation and for sharing about Mr. Daniel Smith. I had not heard about him. I wanted to share, actually, a fact that I looked up based on the writer activist Rachel cargo's Instagram. She's been and posting prompts every day to learn more about Black History Month. And I looked up a woman that I can't believe I had not known about florence Flow Kennedy. She was a lawyer activist and civil rights activist and feminist

Thank you for sharing this Black History moment. And, wow, the power of that. It is still so recent, right? Which is why I tell people that time period is not so far removed from today. A lot of people are like, oh, it was so long ago. It's not relevant to what's happening today or some of the effects of today. Still very much so relevant
