Filtering start of the year information

Alright, so we all know that teachers have a lot of professional development, staff meetings, lesson planning, room preparation, all sorts of things to do at the start of the year. And as a veteran teacher with some experience and opportunity, what are things? Things that you focus on? And how do you help new teachers filter through all of the fire hose of information that's coming their way? What advice do you have for them?

And then what I like to do is spend a little bit of time in my room, just kind of sitting in the space. I'm thinking about the vision that I have for the year. So what I focus on is establishing an environment that's comfortable for kids, that has easy routines that kids can follow and I can reinforce

Give me something that is meaningful to me and helpful to me, not something that's meaningful to everybody else. And if you've experienced those, how are you filtering those? How do you know you had a successful year? Let's not just use anecdotal, well, I feel like or I think that, how will you know it was successful? Thanks

And every year I get the chance to make a difference in a kiddo's life. And that could be anything for me. As small as helping them remember to say thank you after somebody gives them something to achieving well on some sort of academic skill that they struggled with. So honestly, for me, I look forward to meeting the students that I get to make a difference in their lives
