S1E1 Garage Rock Revival

article image placeholderUploaded by @studio
The garage rock revival celebrates the raw energy and catchy hooks of these bands and influences the music landscape today. So if you're interested in listening to some new bands that sound like old bands, you might check out the Arctic Monkeys, the Black Keys, ty Segal, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, the Orwells Parquet Courts. These are all bands that really have that garage band appeal. And if you look specifically at a band like the black Keys, which is one of my favorites

It's got to be one of my favorite things to listen to, by far. Thank you for doing this. And I'm I'm excited to hear even if you don't do the series on it, just whatever else you you are ready to chat about, I'm stoked to tune in

Some bands did it better than others…

But if you really listen to some of these bands for the way that it's being recorded and mixed and engineered, there's a lot that's going into it because they have to do that to make it sound good. In the early two thousand s, you think about what was coming off of MTV. You had like Matchbox 20, you have the Google Dolls, you had Nickelback, you did have the Post Grunge, and then suddenly you had these clean cut bands

And then, in fact, they were like a punk band that became a garage band that became an MTV sensation after doing some music for a movie. And they really made some of their fans mad, and that was crazy. On the other hand, you look at Matchbox 20 and they were so polished. You talk about going into the studio and what it takes to really make an album sound good and sound good
