Caplitalistic Faiths.

I'm guessing it's an expensive watch that this pastor said he couldn't afford because he didn't get no donations. The times we live in. Interesting, indeed

Hey, Doan. What's going on? I'm making a comeback on swell, so I'm making my rounds and yeah, interesting topic. Church is a business, right? And I guess it can be be argued that it's a good business for a good purpose or for the common good, shall we say the common good of the flock

Well, there is something weird going on there, but I've never ever heard a pastor make it about themselves and particularly a pricey watch, instead of it being about giving unto God or instead of about putting food on the table or any of these other things, like, it was really weird to frame it. So on the one hand, I want to say it's really weird psychology that he would do that

@RookieRunnerPod 🤔

So I can feel what this pastor is saying is a part of the gospel, quote unquote play on words that is going around because you see online, you see these other pastors and reverence in private jets and luxury goods, wearing cabana and wearing Valenciaga shoes while preaching. And it's very conflicting at times. I don't know, was Jesus of his day rocking some luxury sandals? Was he drinking the finest wines or was he kind of struggling? But that's a whole another conversation

@SeekingPlumb thank you.

Hello, Christine. Thank you, as always, for responding to the swells. Yeah, I would imagine that he was motivating them in the best way he knew how. And although that congregation probably is used to that line of speaking, that flare of speech, the general public is really rolling their eyes at it. I wonder again what's justifiable means and what is excess. Are they practically entertainers? Is that kind of how they're perceived by the public?

@FryedOreo: Greed & Gospel…

The other thing is that when you get into the question of said pastors, ministers, nonprofits or faith based organization leaders, charitable organization leaders, who request and in some cases attempt to persuade their support base to give for the sake of their own personal gain, you run into the danger of being seen as one who misinterprets the fancy word is isgetical right. They isolate text. It's where the corruption of Manifest Destiny came from. It's where the corruption of slavery and enslaving other people came from

And I saw a documentary on him in later years, and he had 16 Rolls Royces in his garage, and he's been known to ray things like my garage, run it over. And it was a big deal. I mean, this was before megachurches. He was coming on television telling people that, yeah, you too, can be rich. And he became very wealthy. I think he passed away in his mid 70s

@lwatsonjr thank you.

One Ray and some in the congregation you can hear in the audio were actually sympathetic towards his plights because to some extent people are. And I think this is something that those understand who are truth tellers or maybe those who are active in the community, they do understand that people have money and they prioritize it on things that they probably shouldn't. They have five or six streaming accounts that they pay

So they lance from they range from $500 to $900 over $900. So from five hundred and ninety five dollars to nine hundred and ninety five dollars. Let's see. Actually, let me take that back. Okay. The cheapest watch is about $495. So from $495 to like, $995. So we're talking about almost $1,000. So why would he need a $400 watch? Why does he need he needs a $500 watch. $495

My brother in Christ. Whoa. That's very fitting for this particular topic, right? Thank you so much, beyond greatness for taking the time not only to listen to this well, but to also offer an audio response. Yeah. I think with this particular individual and this particular style of gospel of sermon is very alarming, because for the first time ever, I think it draws a great distinction between prosperity and value. And it kind of makes sense to a certain degree
