The Importance of Abortion from an SA Survivor

Hi as well. So I haven't talked on the topic yet, but I did go to a woman's rights rally a couple of weeks ago. They had one in Chico to protest the possible ban on abortion. And I just wanted to share one of my own experiences with it. Last year, I was at a party, and I was sexually assaulted by a man. I don't know who it was. I was most likely drugged with a date rape drug like GHB

trigger warning: sexual assault

And it's with you all the time. And I honor the strength that gave you, but you probably could have gotten strength another way. So just sorry that this happened. And I'm also in awe of your ability to communicate it in a way that it's just like, plain and simple. Here are the facts, ma'am. And that's important. Stylistically, I think people need to hear things as clearly as possible. A to B to C to D. And you gave us that

Hi, Katie. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I think that there's not a lot of, like, talk about what actually happens afterwards and that I learned a lot from what you just talked about. And Luckily, I've never found myself in a position and like this. But I know now what to do if I have because I've heard the importance of going to the doctor after it happens and things like that

Like you said, sadly and horrifically, this is something that many women identify with and have experienced. And it's something that we cannot give up fighting for. I went to a rally as well, and I felt so many emotions and the end I left feeling like I'm not alone, that there's all these other people marching for the same things that I believe in

It affects so many people in so many different ways. So thank you for sharing your story and for the reminder that we are fighting for very basic rights. Yeah. Thank you

But if you can help one person, that even makes a difference, if you personally can help one victim go through their terrible journey towards recovery, that's powerful. And if it becomes illegal to have abortions in this country, doing whatever you can do to overturn that just one step at a time. And I don't mean change the law, because sometimes one human being, it's daunting to think, oh, how are we going to change the law?

I just wanted to thank you for creating a safe space for people to talk about this stuff when in a lot of different parts of our lives, it can actually be like, unsafe to open up about this stuff. So, yeah, thank you so much

Hi, Katie. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It was really powerful and I learned a lot. And I just want to wish you all the best moving forward in your life or easy experiences. And I'm really sorry you had to go through that experience that that happened to you. That was completely wrong and unfair. And it's, you know, that shouldn't happen to anyone. But thank you for your clarity and your insight. Your voice is really important
