Nightmare Landlord

article image placeholderUploaded by @katiecal
Some of the plumbing was messed up, so you had to only flush to it once, and you had to wait ten minutes if you need to flush it again. Some of the drains were messed up. Some of the outlets came out of the walls. It was just all these things that he was telling us were wrong with the house, but we just had to deal with it because he wasn't going to fix them

They also don't flood into the bottom floor. This is supposed to happen if a toilet is clogged. It clogs, you get a plunger, you unclog it, and then that's it. It's over, it's done. But apparently this has happened multiple times because there's patchwork on my ceiling that he's done before where it's been flooded before. Anyway, he just basically kind of accused us of being stupid women who didn't know how to do anything

Even if maybe you have a friend who's in law school that can maybe proofread it. If you don't understand anything, find a lawyer. Maybe your parents know someone. Like, have someone read it. They can literally tell you everything that's in that lease and where the loopholes are. And then wherever you're at, look at your city's laws on housing because they said it's not up to code

It could affect the way the toilet flushes and the suction that is needed for toilet flush gets affected by that drain. So he was like, this is a legal I've never seen this before. This goes against every regulation and code that is in place for renters to have for their tenants. This means that your plumbing is all messed up in this bathroom

So, I mean, like I said, I have no experience or degrees in this matter because I refer to Google for everything. And I'm sorry if you said, like, where you where you live in your first original post is but if Chico is in California, I'll say it again, definitely look into your renters rights. Just because you signed the lease. There are renters rights

Damn! Keep your head up. 🙏

And yeah, when it gives away, it gives away. So that is a part of his responsibility. He's supposed to keep it up to code and do annual inspections, especially when someone's coming to rent. And if it was on his watch and he had failed to do inspections since years ago, then it would kind of make sense why something like that would happen. But of course we avoid stuff like inspections because it costs money

So now that I'm here, it's a lot better. So maybe that's an option. I think if you look back on this eventually, I just don't want you to regret saying, oh, I can't believe I let that landlord step all over me like that. I think you should be very firm in that regard and you have rights as a tenant
