Can AI understand the world?

article image placeholderWhat Does It Mean for AI to Understand? | Quanta Magazine
This is a great article that captures my core problem with a lot of AI work that is happening machine learning, which is basically learning statistical correlations by looking at tons of data. It can only get you so far. And there is no real understanding in that kind of machine learning. In this article, there are a couple of really interesting points. One is how IBM Watson was trained

So I just think that's funny. Ai is great, but that like, I don't think AI will ever be able to break that boundary because you can't put spirit into an equation. Like what equation can fit spirit

Right now, most of AI development has been around very narrow, specific use cases like self driving cars. All it can do is drive cars, it can't do anything else. But AGI is meant to really create Ali, which can solve any general problem. Just think like human above any problem space. Right. Not only do one thing

@Ange1A I dont think anyone can answer that…

And our whole purpose that humans have is not purpose, but the purpose you're serving or what you're ending up doing is just acting as a stepping stone for the development of this superintelligent. So maybe that's all we were supposed to do
