Corporate imprisonment

article image placeholderUploaded by @Her_Sisu
You're in the office, I'm in the office. We are literally right across from each other. We're going to meet in person. So we did that, and it actually was an enjoyable conversation. I was so glad to be out of this space. So this is not a post with a question. I don't even have anything profound to say

Yeah, you occasionally can make a swell and listen to a bunch of swells on the job, but you're still working hard. You got your doctorate for that. You continue to work hard, and before you know it, it'll be time for you to get off work. You go, girl. Do your thing

I mean, it was a go, but I remember thinking, you just want somebody here so that we can listen to you talk. That's it. You don't want my input. You don't want my paperwork. You just want to listen to me talk. And unfortunately, I think that's what makes the world go round when it comes to the working world, unless you're doing something absolutely productive where you're creating or fabricating

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your bright and cheery response. And you know what? That is the primary reason what you mentioned about college, why I attended both my Master and doctorate program online, because I was like, this is pointless

Oh, and I said, S as in Sam UC k. This doggone swell transcription is horrible. It made it seem like I said, F as in Frank. And I did not say that. Wanted to clarify that

O-J-L. You didn't hear. The latest update would swell. It captures Freudian slips via the transcript. So you meant to say the F word? Don't back out of it now

It showed us that we could spend more time with our animals and our families, and we could have ownership over our time. And as I'm speaking right now, I have to go because I've got an incoming call

You essentially have to stay logged into Microsoft Teams so that you can appear that you're actively working, right? You can really have your feet up and at the movie theater and just have the app open on your phone. But I just think it's ridiculous. I feel like haven't we learned that we are humans? And why hire someone that you don't really trust to really get the job done and represent the company? Well, it's my thing

Because let's face it, officers don't even want to be there. They don't. And we've kind of spoiled because covet, everybody had to work from home and sometimes we crave that attention to get out and to intermingle with other people. Because working at home is just the dog, the cat, the family, it's the whole thing, right?

How many businesses do you have? You're a hustler, man. I admire that. I admire that energy. That's just incredible. And you have your doctorate. It is disgraceful. World is just crazy, let me tell you. I have a master's in library and information science and currently work for what's supposed to be a nonprofit educational software. However, my position ended up being very much like a call center, because I'm tied to a call center line

@Her_Sisu @FryedOreo I wanna be a Barista again

When I first became a teacher, it was tough, I did morning, day and night shifts and I had to leave my kid with all sorts of babysitters. He was safe, but you know what I mean? So I've done the hard yards, I've done cleaning for work as well, juan, I've been a cleaner, I've cleaned other people's toilets, I've done all sorts of stuff and do you know what? I love teaching

And from there, I was like, how do I find something that I'm passionate about but also can support my lifestyle and I can grow and scale over time? And so I just started doing my research. I am passionate about environmental services because part of my work that I've done all my career, especially working in the Anatology and now working in the role that I'm currently in, it's just important. It's the roots of everything

@TwistedChick - about uber

I'm, like, fresh, and I've only been doing it for about two and a half weeks. Tomorrow I plan to do, like, a full day. But anyway, with all that being said so, yes, I am an Ambivert, and I tend to lean more towards the introvert side. I can mask extrovert well

They said that they were like because I was saying how exhausted I was in the evening because I have to come home and I have to check my business email and I have to make calls and I feel behind 24 hours because usually people are done for the evening by the time I'm coming home and doing my thing with my business. And so my business coach said, work smarter, not harder. Why don't you during the periods where you do have a downtime at work

Anyway, I'm fascinated by what they do. And I recognize I don't believe I will ever be able to do that. Same with a bartender. I'm fascinated by the work that they do, how they're able to just remember all these recipes. Like what? And just people, hey, I want this and I want that and DA, I can't do it. Well, I can do all things through Christ. However, I choose not to do it

We got the remote work where everything was on Zoom, microsoft, Teams, Gmail, Email, Zmail, whatever. Now, the cost of capital by percentage is double. Mortgages are now 6% instead of 3%. Financially. Things are getting more expensive for corporations, and we're kind of at this horrible sweet spot where financing is expensive and energy and everything commodities are still expensive. So it's like, oh, great

Yeah, that corporate setting, that corporate imprisonment can be tortured. I have worked. I myself have worked in the corporate setting. And down in the basement, I felt like I was in prison. Yeah, it did feel like I was in prison. But then I start thinking back to my older jobs, right? I start thinking back to my other jobs. I start to think back, like, wait a minute. You know, that's how I get through my days, right?

And I'm like, Where is this f****** mindset when I first started? But now she's like, f*** this job. F*** these people. Because they pull the rug from under her. So she's not showing up for work. She'll do a couple of meetings, but she is not micromanaging to the extent that she was. And I'm just like, okay

I've done this, I've done this, I've done this. Now I'm doing this. And, yes, there's that component of thinking about that, too, where I was when I was bright eyed, bushy tail, brand new nurse, 2003. And then I climbed the healthcare corporate ladder. I got into leadership. I was tagged into leadership early, got my master's degree, the doctorate, and, like I said, did all of the things

That is really funny. Basically, what happened to this lady that was managing you or micromanaging you was oh, they pulled a you on you. You like to tell people what to do for arbitrary, tri reasons to make them stay 3 hours, and now all of a sudden, they're treating you like you treat everybody. Sorry. I'm not sorry
