The excitement was always there in the times or in the era of having one night stand or people tend to let go of each other as time passes or not my type of thing. It's about a couple who are fiercely in competition with one another. It starts right from school to college to their careers and so on, and how close they were to one another. You must get your hands on this, if you can. I'll let you know which part. I think it was a quiver full of arrows. I'm not sure which particular book of short stories it was in, but, yeah, I was reminded of this
