Does having a child really make you less of an a**hole?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Bendi_G
Because I have a child, I'm a better human being because I have a child. It makes me think more about the future and about the world and the planet, and I care more. I don't have any children. I would love to have had children. I have tried in previous relationships. My last relationship, it just wasn't possible. In previous two previous relationships, I've had miscarriages and unfortunately, I didn't have any children. But I love children

Just like some reigious-folk, some parents claim that being so makes them a better person. But doea having a child really make you less of an a**hole?

You might it to be able to adopt, help other kids or like you are doing, right? You are already helping somebody. So why not think from those lines as well?

@Bendi_G: Potty parents,…

And more often than not, those individuals or parents and I will say this, that being a father of two natural born children, product of a previous marriage that I had, I can say that having children, whether adopted or otherwise, does cultivate a sensitivity about the future, if you care

@Wordsmith

I wish more people would consider adopting and not automatically think the only way they can have a child is by spawning their own genetic material all over the planet. That there are wonderful children who need homes and need your love. But just because they don't share your genes doesn't mean they can't be your children and you can't give them your love because you absolutely can. And I wish more people would realize that. And I also believe that adopting can be a very difficult and expensive process

@lwatsonjr

I think it's particularly a male thing. I don't know if many women would often say they have children in order to carry on their genetic lineage. I think it's more particularly a male thing. And again, it's a common one which we believe males of the animal, particularly within mammals of the animal species do. So why they reproduce an interesting one, but one that I just don't share

@Bendi_G: stewarding succession…

I was sort of getting at this idea that some people and I know it's off topic because you were sort of asking, like, does having children make someone an a****** or less of an a******? But I think that what has been part of my experience and observation, right?

@lwatsonjr

And I've been a teacher and cared about the pastoral well being of many hundreds of young people, as well as now looking after a young person here in India who's no longer a child. He's an adult now, but he's a young adult. I do have understanding, certainly, and what you're saying. So thank you again. I'm going to stop because my brain is just beginning to freeze. So thank you. Great talking. Great talking to you. Thanks, Thomas

@Bendi_G: Kids will definitely cause onset of "brainfreeze" 😂

And I just was tickled, really, when you started to have the brain freeze, because I say, well, maybe that's another good swell. Do children or being a parent cause the onset of brain freeze? Because I find myself going through more and more of that these days. But I do appreciate, appreciate it, man. Always a pleasure talking to you and listening to your swell. Always engaging, which is why I follow and continue to return and reply and respond to your swells
