The Irishman - Scorcese’s Best Film?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Taylor
And I think the reason why I'm leaning towards it being scored as he's best film is because the way that De Niro and Al Pacino in particular and Joe Pesci are able to convey emotion in this film, I think, is really next level. I mean, we're talking about three of the greatest actors of all time who are reaching the ends of their career at this point. They have honed their craft like no other

What are your thoughts on his most recent film? Where does it sit in your Scorcese rankings?

He took the formula that he's done time and time again, took a story that we've already seen and Scorsese did, which is nothing wrong with that, but to get the accolades that it gets compared to his other films, I just don't think so. I just don't feel it

Because this is now, what, the fourth time I believe we've had, like, a mob gangster flick from Scorsese with featuring these guys or at least De Niro and Joe Pesci. So I get it. It does venture into that territory of we've been here, we've done that, let's try and do something new. So I get it

Whether that be mob the Irish, Mob, the Italian, it doesn't matter. Just step away from that. For Netflix, this was phenomenal for a movie theater. Good for Scorsese. It's not in my top five films for him. There's some amazing performances, it's just not in my top five. So I'm very excited for this up and coming film. I think this will be really interesting. Plus, I love the name

I agree with you that he is definitely I mean, he's not just a top tier filmmaker, he's elite and he's part of a very small batch that can kind of claim that type of notoriety or category. Like, you have UI Bowl, you have Sean Levy, you have somewhere on the higher tier Christopher Nolan, and then you have this group that really just exists by themselves. As far as filmmakers, nolan will get there some day, but I digress

@MrBingo

And then when I watch The Irishman, I have the same exact feeling this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. And when it comes to the folks that are in that realm of filmmaking, someone like I would even include Steven Spielberg in there, obviously. Although I think he has more stinkers than square Safety does, if we even want to call them stinkers

So you see where I started. This is how far I've come. This is Theo point I've gotten to after all these years and all this time making movies. And I wanted to do this for so long, but I finally got to this point where I could make it and pull it off the way it needed to be done. So irishman. Yes, absolutely. And now after this, I definitely got to watch it again

And matter of fact, I'm going to try to see if I can watch it again and see if I can find it on one of these streaming channels. I pay enough for these streaming channels to try to find it and watch it again

I couldn't debate that in the negative, beyond the point. But for me, it felt short of cinematic brilliance or cinematic impact, and something that you leave the theater thinking, well, what did I just see? That was Theo effect, which was missing for me. Thank you
