School is starting soon.. yet teachers are quiting?! Why?

And I'm just wondering I know a lot of teachers are quitting and leaving and I'm just wondering why, if there are other teachers, what are some reasons why you're leaving the teaching field and what are you doing after you leave teaching?

And a lot of parents and teachers don't want to be in this situation anymore and that's why they're leaving now. What I did was I realized that there was a missing avenue for parents who are stuck in the process. They want to send their kids to places where they can get education and they want to send their kids to places where they can get real support from real teachers like you

What would make things better for you?

Because that, to me, is helpful, because then we can create more support in that conversation, first off, because first it starts with words and connection and community, and then maybe things can bubble up from there. So the more specific and open you are, the more I'll understand, and I think we're so honored to have you here speaking about it. So I just love to hear more about what you're feeling and what would make it a better a better journey for you

But I know they are really excited to retire. Just kind of like the wear and tear of all the years and being overworked and dealing with the administration, the parents, and the conditions. And there's so many forces other than the pure act of teaching that I can imagine you deal with every single day. So I think, yeah, it's totally valid that you feel like it's time to move on and look for different things for your life

And I'm sorry that you've seen this mass exodus of teachers. It's not a good feeling. It's not good for the system of education overall. But fortunately, I've worked with a lot of young people lately that are really eager about stepping into the classroom, and I just hope that they maintain in that level of eagerness throughout their career, unlike me, who lost it. Anyways, Tasha, good luck to you, and thanks for posting this. Swell. Bye

@tashr03 System needs to change

Teachers are constantly having to teach towards an exam instead of what the students actually need, or filling in the gaps of their education, what they're missing out on. And I know teachers who work in schools, and I know teachers who work in colleges, and we're all saying the same thing, is that the paperwork is so onerous. We have so many meetings and so much paperwork

@tashr03 In answer to your question about retiring

Tash, I didn't even answer your question. I'm terribly sorry. I got on my soapbox and rant about the education system because you know what? I am passionate about this because I loved my job. I loved helping people. I liked is opening up people's brains, minds, hearts, possibilities to growth in their life. And I've changed so many people's lives because of my job. I found it so rewarding

@DBPardes

I'm not going to be able to do. And I hope that she understands that and so hoping that I can make it to retirement to get all of my benefits that I need and want. Because I'm not going out at 35 years, I'm actually coming out early at 30, so hopefully I will be able to get most of my benefits and move on to do something else. So I really appreciate the commentary and the question that you asked for me to reflect on

And I know you can do this and I know you can find something and that swell help you drive through it. And I know days are going to be hard and difficult and you're going to have to pull through. So thank you. Thank you for being school teachers that tries to make a difference every single day

But I really think that this is going be it for me. I'm not sure that I'm going to make it to my 30th year teaching. So thank you for the response. I really appreciate it. Really touched my heart
