Comfort (food), let’s talk…

And they just keep going back for more and more because it just reminds them of the very first time and, oh, how sweet it is to try something for the first time and it'd be absolutely delectable and delicious. So I mention this because comfort food doesn't really have a clear correlation. Food can be comforting, but food is not in and of itself a comfort unless we define it that way

Traced back to the 70s, we have associated "comfort" with food. Now obesity is a problem. Should we rethink this?

And the funny thing is that this has sort of become one of my comfort foods. I wake up looking forward to it. The textures, the taste, the temperature differences between the hot chicken and the cold ingredients from the fridge and those from the counter. And there's something reassuring about it because I know exactly what I'm going to eat, and I know the spicy dressing that I make and all of these flavors together and textures. I don't know, there's something about it

@SeekingPlumb: good ol’ Goulash…

And the older I get, I mean, I just celebrated my 45th birthday. I'm slightly overweight, according to my doctor. And so I'm really sort of relegating how much comfort food, so to speak, I consume. I am, by any definition of taco and pizza junkie. And I've been trying to do sort of the replacement thing that you mentioned. So, yeah, it's a journey and it's a marathon. And that's what my doctor keeps telling me

How funny. And yeah, I completely agree. It's a marathon. It's easier to change one little thing here or there for a period of time, then to attempt to change, quote, unquote, everything and everything all at once because it seems daunting and it's even harder. But that's definitely been the path that I've taken. Cutting out dairy, cutting out gluten, shifting what I'm eating, et cetera. And now it's like I wouldn't go back

Hey, Ray. Valj. Hi, eric here. Thanks so much for the invite, but you know, cup of food is always a fun thing to do. Who doesn't like that sort of thing? I've been healthy all my life. I've spent years running, working out in gyms and martial arts. Hurts, so I watch what I eat. But I like to treat myself as well
